The tube I used for this tutorial is here
The fonts I used are here
The SBP preset I used is here
The eBook of this tutorial is here
This tutorial was written using V9 - most can be done with previous versions, but the radial blur steps will not be available or can be substituted with gaussian blur
OK - lets get started
1. Open a new transparent canvas 400 x 400
2. Set your background colour to white and using the settings below add the following text - lower case w
3. Go to align>centre in canvas, then selections>from vector object, then on your layer palette convert your vector layer to raster. Do not deselect
4. Apply SBP with the Quiklass settings. Deselect
5. Duplicate your layer, then go to your layer palette. You should have 3 layers - the bottom layer should be blank - rename this background. The middle layer should be renamed blur, and the top layer renamed tag. Turn the visibility off on your blur and background layer
6. Activate your tag layer, then use your magic wand and click in the border part of your image as below (mine is red so its easier for you to see lol), then go to selections>load/save selection>save to alpha channel - name your selection so you can find it easily later. Deselect and turn on the visibility of all your layers
7. Activate your blur layer, then apply radial blur with the following settings
8. Activate your tag layer and apply the following drop shadow
9. Turn off the visibility on your background layer and activate your blur layer and merge visible your tag and blur layers, then name the layer TagBack
10. Copy and paste your tube as a new layer - rename the layer tube 1. I resized the tube I used by 80% bicubic, paste another tube layer, rename the layer tube 2. I resized tube 2 by 75% bicubic
11. Activate your tube 1 layer and make sure it is under your tube 2 layer. Apply the following radial blur settings (these are the default zoom centred settings)
11. Activate your tube 1 layer and apply the following drop shadow settings
12. Turn the visibility off on all layers except the 2 tube layers - activate one of the tube layers, merge visible and rename tube. Turn the visibility off on your tube layer
13. Turn the visibility on for your TagBack layer and make sure this is your active layer
14. Go to selections>load/save selection>load from alpha channel and then hit delete and deselect
15. Turn on the visibility of your tube and tagback layers and merge visible. You now have the basis of your tag - save it as a psp compatible file so you can use it again later
16. Now have you noticed that we still have a background layer that's blank?? Turn on the visibility of the background layer and make it active and flood fill with the colour of your choice. I originally did this tag with a white background, but it took on a whole new life when I changed it to black!
17. Make sure all your layers are visible, and merge all/flatten. Add the text you want to your tag - the font I used on my text is included in the font zip - apply the Quiklass SBP setting to your text, then add the same drop shadow we used in step 8 (of course if you're using a black background you can skip the drop shadow!)
That's it - all done!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial ;)
