This is what we will be making

To complete this tutorial you will need:

Filter Factory A (Pool Shadow)

The eBook of this tutorial and other supplies are here

I used PSP 8 to complete this tutorial, but it should be easily done in earlier versions as well.

OK ... on with the tutorial :)

REMEMBER TO SAVE OFTEN!!

1. Open the graphic you want to use. If you aren't using mine, then make sure its got plenty of colour in it! Shift D twice to duplicate twice and close your original. Minimize one of your images, resize the other by 50% and apply seamless tiling, minimize

2. Open your other image and promote your image layer to a background layer, then add a new raster layer and with this new layer active, send it to the bottom of your layer palette

3. We need to increase the size of your canvas by 100 pixels, so go to image>canvas size add 100 to the width and height of your image, and check the centre placement box

4. Activate your image layer, and duplicate the layer, you now have 3 layers in your layer palette, turn the visibility off on your top layer, we will be working on layer 2.

5. Using your deformation tool, drag your image out to fit your canvas. Apply a gaussian blur with a radius setting of 28. Duplicate this layer. Apply a pool shadow using the default settings, then merge these 2 layers visible

6. Apply spiky halo (effects>geometric effects>spiky halo) using the following settings

7. Sharpen. Dependant on your image, add unsharp mask with these settings, radius 2, strength 100. Some images can take the unsharp mask, but some can't

8. Activate your top layer, go to selections>select all, then selections>defloat, and without deselecting, add a new layer - flood fill this layer with white, then go to selections>modify and contract by 5 and delete. Deselect

9. Click on this white 'frame' with your magic wand to activate, then flood fill with the tile we made in step 1

10. Add an inner bevel with these settings, do not deselect

11. Add a drop shadow with these settings, then repeat with minus values. Do not deselect

12. Invert your selection, then expand by 1 and add the following cutout

13. Deselect

 That's it! We're all done :)

I hope you enjoyed doing this tutorial as much as I enjoyed writing it
